Information You Submit
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search box is sent to the third-party provider operating that result service. Our servers do not retain a copy of those searches. If you contact us, we receive the contents of your message and use them to respond.
Automatic Technical Data
Hosting services create ordinary logs such as IP address, browser type, viewed pages, and timestamps. We use aggregated log information to maintain the service and understand traffic patterns. Cookies or similar tools may enable basic analytics and, when applicable, advertising measurement.
How Limited Data Is Used
That limited data supports operation, diagnostics, traffic measurement, and improvements to Amherst reference pages. We do not sell lists of visitors or create individual visitor profiles.
External Services and Links
Links may lead to Massachusetts and Hampshire County record portals, library collections, archives, or third-party search services. The receiving service’s own privacy terms govern information entered there. This includes sponsored search results provided by another company.
Service Providers and Disclosures
Providers that host or support the reference may process relevant server logs. Analytics and advertising partners can receive the automatic data described above. Information is disclosed when valid legal process requires it and otherwise only as described here.
Data Safeguards
The service uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for the operational purposes described above. Amherst Residents Directory has no visitor accounts, passwords, or personal profiles to maintain.
Visitors Under Eighteen
This reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. Contact us if you believe such information was sent, and we will remove it.
Your Privacy Requests
Depending on your location, you may have rights to ask about personal data a service holds, including a request to access, correct, or delete it. Because this reference keeps very little, a request normally involves the contact mailbox and applicable server logs. Use the Contact page. Records held by an Amherst, Hampshire County, or Massachusetts custodian are outside our control. Massachusetts Public Records Law, M.G.L. c. 66, § 10, governs access requests to public custodians; an amendment or removal request must go to the office holding the record.
Changes to This Policy
Updates will appear on this policy page. Continuing to use the reference after an update indicates acceptance of the revised policy.
